A major milestone has been reached in the quest to build a quantum computer. A team of scientists have achieved the first two-qubit gate between atom qubits in silicon, and it is the fastest two-qubit gate in silicon ever demonstrated. A two-qubit gate is the central building block of any quantum computer.
