Livermore Lab-Led Study Finds Any Hair from the Human Body Can be Used for Identification

After a year-long study, researchers from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s (LLNL) Forensic Science Center (FSC) and Michigan State University have found that any hair from anywhere on the body can identify a person. The technique uses the information encoded in the proteins inside of the hairs, and can be used alongside DNA data to identify the perpetrators of sexual violence or other crimes.
