Researchers Forge ‘Impossible’ Superconductor Using ‘Forbidden’ Compound

Written by Jeff Hopkins | 1/28/20 4:00 PM

An international team of researchers has bent the rules of chemistry to create a ‘forbidden’ compound with unprecedented superconductivity

The challenge in the field of superconductors is to create one that can transfer electricity without the loss of precious kilowatts — while at room temperature. A team from the US, Russia and China has come closer to this goal, creating a “forbidden” compound that exhibits superconductivity at only 1 m atmosphere of pressure.
