The Holy Grail of Nanowire Production

Written by Jeff Hopkins | 7/15/19 4:00 PM

Nanowires, measuring just 5-100 nanometers in diameter, can emit, concentrate and absorb light. They could therefore be used to generate lasers directly on silicon chips, or in solar panels to improve the conversion of sunlight to electrical energy. That and more may be possible now that researchers have discovered a way to standardize and control their production on silicon surfaces.
