On Thursday, March 19, 2020, the California State Public Health Officer and Director of the California Department of Public Health is ordering all individuals living in the State of California to stay home or at their place of residence. From a business perspective, that means all businesses “except as needed to maintain continuity of operation of the federal critical infrastructure sectors (CIS), critical government services, schools, childcare, and construction, including housing construction.”

Swagelok and Swagelok Northern California fit into several of the categories identified in the federal critical infrastructure sectors, notably Chemical, Critical Manufacturing, Defense Industrial Base, Energy, Food & Agriculture, Healthcare & Public, Information Technology, and Water & Wastewater Systems.

Our priority is our people and our community. Guided by our values and by recommendations from the relevant health and disease control authorities, we have and will continue to take actions that protect the health and well-being of our associates and those of our customers, while supporting customers that are also operating under the guidelines provided in the County and State Orders. The coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread. The World Health Organization has declared it a global pandemic and the United States has declared it a national emergency. We are closely monitoring the outbreak and possible impacts on our associates, our customers, our operations, and our communities.

Guided by recommendations from the relevant health and disease control authorities and our core values, we have and will continue to take actions that protect the health and well-being of our associates and those of our customers. That is our number one concern.

Hours of operation

Yesterday (3/16/2020) just after 1:00 pm, under the authority of the California Health and Safety Code, the Health Officers of the Counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara, along with the City of Berkeley, issued a “Shelter In Place Order”.

The Orders define essential businesses, which can remain open, and non-essential businesses, which must close for three weeks. Under the Order, Swagelok Northern California is considered a supplier to essential businesses and infrastructure and we will remain open, although in a limited capacity, to support these essential groups. Some of the other essential businesses are defined as pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, public works, power plants, healthcare operations, plumbers, water and gas utilities, and oil refining. We service all these types of businesses and the Orders make a provision for Swagelok Northern California under “Businesses that supply other essential businesses with the support or supplies necessary to operate.”
