Knowing how to properly select materials and handle products for oxygen service is critical. The rigorous demands for safety and quality control are especially important as the risk of combustion and fire are greatly increased when dealing with oxygen enriched systems.
In this Tech Talk, you will learn about the hazards and solutions when dealing with oxygen systems and service, as well as the various Swagelok and third-party products available for use with them.
In this 30 minute (plus Q and A) tech talk, Dr. Robert (Bob) Bianco will discuss:
Background on Oxygen Applications
- Steelmaking (AOD)
- Rocket propulsion
Hazards and Issues with Oxygen
- Auto-ignition temperatures
- Ignition mechanisms
Materials Selection Solutions
- Seal and seat material
- Material test results
- Risk of improper product use and selection
- Managing and reducing risks
