Treasure Trove of New Galaxies Defies Current Models of the Universe

Using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), scientists have been able to spot numerous previously invisible, massive galaxies that date to the first two billion years of the universe’s existence. Since massive galaxies play a part in the distribution of dark matter in the universe, current models will have to be revised.
