Combining solar panel (photovoltaic) infrastructure and agriculture creates a mutually beneficial relationship

Talk about killing two birds with one stone: “agrivoltaics,” in which crops are planted in the shade of solar panels, is a mutually beneficial arrangement. The shade of the panels provides a more temperate year-round climate for the plants, and mitigates evaporation and drought stress. Evaporation of moisture from the plants also helps keep the panels cool, which don’t function well when they get too hot.
