Another Innovative Swagelok Valve: The DE Series Diaphragm Valve
by Jeff Hopkins on 7/2/13 1:00 PM
Swagelok offers a full line of ultra high purity springless diaphragm valves
Swagelok is known as the leading manufacturer of ALD valves, entering the market a decade ago. But Swagelok is also the place to go for lower cost, high-volume valves also needed for modular gas systems: our DE series springless diaphragm valves.
Superior performance and savings designed in
Our cost savings and superior performance were designed into the valve and its manufacturing process. We use a unique welding technique to fasten the diaphragm to the body which provides a high integrity all welded seal to atmosphere. There is no need for threads to fasten the diaphragm, so we get more space inside for a larger diaphragm. Greater diaphragm area allows for optimum cycle life and increased flow. The diaphragms are rated for 125 psi, and they can handle it easily. We have conducted laboratory burst tests and tensile tests to make sure. The DE series also has a threadless actuator which provides maximized effieciency by permitting larger pistons that increase the force output in the same standard footprint. The pieces are formed together, pressed into place on our custom machines. Each actuator is tested for full stroke, stroke at the appropriate pressure, pressure retention and force output.
Innovative design
The innovative design also includes a unique, smaller body that efficiently uses 316L VIM-VAR material for reduced cost and low internal volume. And a fully-contained seat design minimizes chemical and thermal swelling. Along with a welded diaphragm and a threadless actuator, the outcome is a design that enables both high flow and high cycle life in a small footprint.
Available with pneumatic or manual actuators, the DE series can be ordered in two- or three-port configurations in both c-seal and w-seal surface interface configurations.
With the DE series, customers can get the full portfolio of gas system diaphragm valves from one place: Swagelok Northern California. That makes ordering simple. You can take a look at our DE valves if you stop by our booth at SEMICON West this coming July 9 through 11 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Look for us at Booth 1431, right in the center of the exhibit hall. If you have not registered for SEMICON West 2013, you may be able to get free registration courtesy of Swagelok.
