Newfound Superconductor Material Could be the ‘Silicon of Quantum Computers’

by Jeff Hopkins, on 12/23/19 9:00 AM

Newly discovered properties of a known compound give it a significant leg up over other superconducting materials—perhaps so much so that it becomes the basic material out of which quantum computers are built. The compound, uranium ditelluride (UTe2) has such a strong resistance to magnetic fields that qubits made from it should be able to conduct error-free computations.
